Plants React

Tropism is the plants reaction to an external stimuli. 

  There are two types of tropism:

     1. Positive = wherein the plant goes towards the stimuli

                     Phototropism - towards the light

                     Geotropism/Gravitropism - towards the force of gravity

                     Thigmotropism - towards physical contact

     2. Negative = wherein the plant goes away from the stimuli

                     Phototropism - away from the light

                     Geotropism/Gravitropism - away from the force of gravity

                     Thigmotropism - away from physical contact

Plant Hormones

Cytokinins is a plant hormone specialized in the stimulation of cell division (mitosis) and lateral plant growth.

Its functions include:

     ➽ delaying of senescence
     ➽ promoting mitosis
     ➽ stimulating differentiation
     ➽ stimulating morphogenesis
     ➽ stimulating lateral growth

Plant Hormones

Auxin is a plant hormone specialized in the stimulation of cell elongation and plant growth.

Its functions include:

     ➽ development of embryo
     ➽ leaf formation
     ➽ apical dominance
     ➽ inhibition of abscission.
